{{BNR-table|scienticity=2|readability=4|hermeneutics=3|charisma=3|recommendation=3}} Chris Lavers, ''The Natural History of Unicorns''. New York : Harper Perennial, 2009. 272 pages; illustrated; includes bibliographic references and index. Growing up, I collected unicorns (pictures, figurines, stuffed animals), so I was excited to learn more about the mythology surrounding them. I have to admit, though, that I was hoping for something along the lines of ''Vampires, Burial, and Death: Folklore and Reality'' by Paul Barber, an interesting and detailed cross-cultural analysis of vampires. At a little more than 200 pages, this natural history is not in the same league as Barber's book, but is a basic introduction to the historical antecedents of the fictional unicorn. {{Notesby|GKY}} [[Category: Book Notes]][[Category: GKY]]
