Old Peppersass, Building the Mount Washington Railway, New Hampshire, 1868
Built in 1866 Old Peppersass was the first mountain climbing cog (rack-and-pinion) railway engine in the world.
It was used to build the Mount Washington Cog Railway and later to haul passengers.The railway is still in operation,
