Phycoerythrin fluorescence and transmission
The dominant pigment in this water extraction from red seaweed is phycoerythrin. The spectra above show the fluorescence under 368nm LED and 404nm and 532nm lasers. The lowest (red) spectrum is the transmission of 5cm of the extract. Since the liquid remained turbid after filtration, the transmission includes scattering as well as absorption. The orange line shows this transmission spectrum corrected for scattering as described in the next post.
