Source of the Susquehanna River, Cooperstown, New York
The Susquehanna River begins at Blackbird Bay, Otsego Lake, north of the Village of Cooperstown, New York. The river is 464 mile long and flows through three states: New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.

James Fenimore Cooper called Otsego Lake "Glimmerglass." He featured Glimmerglass in his novels "The Pioneers" and "The Deerslayer." Cooperstown was named for his father.
