Crude Oil From Rainbow Springs, Yellowstone Park

Rainbow Springs are a group of springs in the Yellowstone backcountry, and they got their name from the iridescent rainbows that cover the surface of the water.The iridescence is from crude oil given off by the springs.The oil has a high percentage of sulfur in it, and in a cool room the sulfur crystallizes out, as seen here.

My father got this sample when he was working for Gulf Oil.I'd like to think that they weren't thinking about drilling there.
