Africa Geyser...1980

This geyser was very active in the late 1970's and into the early 80's. It reminded me of a smaller version of Old Faithful, and it was the star performer in the Porcelain Basin section of Norris Geyser Basin. It got its name from the shape of its crater, reminiscent of Africa. It stopped erupting when Sunday Geyser became active, despite the fact that Sunday is quite distant from Africa .You could literally watch the water rise in Africa's crater, and then drop out of sight when Sunday Geyser started erupting. Eventually Sunday Geyser went dormant and stayed that way, but Africa never rejuvenated.
