Aragonite and Ruby under Blue LED viewed through Olive Oil Filter
Sicilian Aragonite and Indian Ruby fluoresce under the influence of blue LED light. The image was taken through a beaker of olive oil which absorbed most of the blue light allowing the fluorescing colors to be seen.
The lack of brightness of the ruby may be due to the fact that chlorophyll in the olive oil has an absorbance peak around 665nm, right where the ruby is brightest.
