Tangleroot Spring Complex 1980

This hot spring in the Back Basin section of Norris Geyser Basin deposited a heavy coating of silica on branches and roots that were submerged in the water. It formed very quickly, but the silica that forms this quickly is very fragile and crumbles to dust once a spring dries out.
