YAG luminescence
A boule of YAG* illuminated by white light and three lasers to show the different luminescent behaviour. Colour filters were used to eliminate the laser light from the spectrometer (orange and RG715 for the 532nm and 633nm lasers respectively).
The 404nm laser excites an additional set of energy levels.
The image shows illumination by the 633nm laser, but photographed through an RG715 filter to remove the laser light from the camera. The beam is the IR fluorescence from the crystal.
* YAG = Yttrium aluminium garnet; in this case doped with neodymium.
