Crystal of Unknown Phosphorus Compound...identified as white phosphorus crystal...
Found on the inside of a plastic capsule that had an inert gas inside to protect the white phosphorus sample I have from oxidizing. No crystals actually on the phosphorus itself, it seems to be unaltered. So, is this phosphorus pentoxide, or maybe white phosphorus crystals grown from phosphorus vapor inside the capsule? Or something else? I had my phosphorus sample in the refrigerator to keep it from changing to red phosphorus during the heat of summer.
