Radish Sprouts
Nutrient mobilization begins when the endosperm breaks down, fueling the emergence of the radicle, the first root, and the first leave (cotyledons). Photosynthesis has not begun because chlorophyll still needs to be synthesized in the emerging leaves and stems.
