Spark_in_Air_Vis_NIR
Visible (left) and infrared (right) images of 5mm long sparks in air produced by a piezoelectric gas lighter. The accompanying spectrum (upper plot) shows emission from neutral and singly ionised oxygen and nitrogen as well as molecular nitrogen. A broad H-alpha line can be seen, but H-beta is absent.
