Candle_flame
An HDR photograph of a (white styrene) candle flame showing two regions from which optical/NIR spectra were measured. The lower region includes the blue part of the flame emitting molecular bands (mostly C_2), the lower, yellow part of the flame that emits Na I and K I emission lines and the glowing tip of the wick that emits in the NIR. The upper region emits predominantly as a black body at just over 2000K and is over a hundred times brighter than the flame base.
