Bean vs. Pea

Top: Mung bean seedling, epigeous germination (cotyledons are pulled above ground)

Bottom: Garden pea seedling, hypogeous germination (cotyledons stay underground)

We germinated them on wet paper towels for botany lab, but due to snow the labs got canceled and everything dried out a bit, so the roots were starting to shrivel up when I took this picture.
