Pumpkin Drop - SPLAT
The end result of a pumpkin, frozen for several hours in liquid nitrogen, and dropped from a height of 5+ stories. It shattered into hundreds of fragments. The carcass of a control pumpkin, one kept at room temperature is visible in the back at the base of the wall. The room temperature pumpkin landed with a loud thump and broke into several large pieces, while the frozen pumpkin disintegrated with a softer crack. Because the fragments of the liquid nitrogen frozen pumpkin are so cold they cause water vapor to condense around them and create a small area of fog.
A safety perimeter was established first and several aides ensured that no one was in the way of either falling pumpkin.
