Spiny Crab (2004)
Crabs are opportunistic deep-sea predators, found near vent sites as they wait to capture live prey. The body of this crab is only 5 cm (about 2 inches) across.
The photograph was taken in the Mariana Arc region of the Western Pacific Ocean in April 2004.
