Sodium Potassium Ferri-trioxalate Crystals: 2nd Crystallization

FOV: 4" wide

Emerald green sodium potassium ferri trioxalate crystals with some residual white sodium/potassium chloride crystals on the edges.

Made by combining sodium hydroxide, potassium chloride, ferric chloride and oxalic acid and separating the resulting sodium potassium ferri trioxalate from the sodium chloride.

Formula:
6NaOH + KCl + FeCl3 + 3H2(C2O4) -->
Na2K[Fe(C2O4)3] + 4NaCl + 6H2O

or

6NaOH + 2KCl + FeCl3 + 3H2(C2O4) -->
NaK2[Fe(C2O4)3] + 5NaCl + 6H2O
